God our shield, guard the responders on duty today. Guard them from fire, from crash, from violence, from what they cannot see coming. Guard their bodies from what they carry home in their lungs and their backs. Guard their hearts from what they carry home in their memory. Bring every crew off shift alive, whole, and known by You. Amen.
A Prayer After a Difficult Call
Merciful God, the call is done and the report is written, and we cannot stop seeing it. Take what we cannot lay down alone. Bless the family we could not save, or the patient we did. Bless the partner beside us in the rig, quieter now than before. Give us the courage to talk about this to someone before we drive home. Amen.
