30 Day Bible Reading Plan

A simple 30-day Bible reading plan for Global Bible Month asks for one chapter a day, with a short prayer each day. Read the Gospel of John from November 1 to 21, then Psalms 23, 27, 46, 51, 91, 103, 121, 139 and 150 from November 22 to 30. Global Bible Month runs from November 1 to 30, 2026, and invites people to read Scripture every day for 30 consecutive days. One chapter a day gives each day a fixed reading.

Chapters vary widely in length, so the plan counts chapters and does not promise a reading time. It opens with the Gospel of John, which has 21 chapters for the 21 days from November 1 to 21 and states its purpose in John 20:31. This plan is not for a reader who wants the whole Bible in 30 days, a reader of a Catholic or Orthodox Bible, or a church that already sets its own plan. Catholic and Orthodox Bibles contain more books than the 66-book Protestant Bible, so the whole-Bible chapter count here applies only to the 66-book Bible.

If you read a Catholic or Orthodox Bible, or your church sets its own plan, follow the plan from your parish or church. At Find A Prayer, we wrote the thirty prayers and chose the readings, and the plan and its one-line chapter themes are our own design. In our internal chapter count, we added up the chapters of all 66 books of the Protestant Bible (929 in the Old Testament and 260 in the New Testament, 1,189 in all). Dividing by 30 days gives about 39.6 chapters a day.

Join Global Bible Month with one chapter a day, starting with John 1 on November 1, for 30 chapters in all.

Day 1 (Sunday, November 1): John 1, The Word Became Flesh

Father, the Word who was with you became flesh, and I start this month with that truth. Thank you for John the Baptist, who pointed the people to Jesus. Help me point others to him too. Like the first disciples, let me follow Jesus closely each morning and not drift away. Teach me to notice him as I read. Amen.

Day 2 (Monday, November 2): John 2, Water Turned to Wine

Jesus, at the wedding in Cana you turned water into wine, and you showed your power. Then you drove the traders out of the temple. Clear out whatever crowds out room for you in my life. Teach me to bring you into my ordinary days, at work and at home. Amen.

Day 3 (Tuesday, November 3): John 3, Born Again

God, Nicodemus came to Jesus at night, and Jesus told him about being born again. Thank you that you loved the world enough to give your one and only Son. Do a new work in me this week. Let my questions bring me closer to you, and let me trust that new birth comes from you. Amen.

Day 4 (Wednesday, November 4): John 4, The Woman at the Well

Lord, you talked with a Samaritan woman at a well, and you healed an official's son. Thank you for meeting people where they are. Make my questions gentle and my words kind. Help me listen with patience to the people I meet this week. When I feel overlooked, remind me that you see me. Amen.

Day 5 (Thursday, November 5): John 5, Healed at the Pool

Jesus, you healed a man at the pool of Bethesda, and you spoke of your authority from the Father. I want to trust your authority over every area of my life. Help me believe that you are the one who makes me whole. I can bring you the places where I feel stuck. Amen.

Day 6 (Friday, November 6): John 6, The Bread of Life

Father, you fed a crowd with loaves and fish, and Jesus called himself the bread of life. Thank you that you provide for hungry people. I bring you my hunger for more than food. Let me come to Jesus each day for what truly satisfies. Give me a steady appetite for your word this month. Amen.

Day 7 (Saturday, November 7): John 7, Division at the Feast

God, at the Feast of Tabernacles people disagreed about who Jesus was. Give me a steady heart when others see things differently. Help me listen carefully and speak gently. Teach me to hold my views humbly before you. Let my confidence rest in who Jesus is, and let me care more about truth than about winning. Amen.

Day 8 (Sunday, November 8): John 8, The Light of the World

Thank you, Jesus, that you called yourself the light of the world. You also spoke with the Pharisees about truth and freedom. Shine into the places in me that are still dark. Give me the courage to walk in your light and to follow truth wherever it leads. Keep me close to your light each day. Amen.

Day 9 (Monday, November 9): John 9, Sight for the Blind Man

Father, you gave sight to a man who had been born blind. He gave his testimony. Give me the same plain courage to tell what you have done. Open my eyes to see you working in ordinary moments. Let me speak simply about your goodness to people around me. Amen.

Day 10 (Tuesday, November 10): John 10, The Good Shepherd

Jesus, the good shepherd, you know your sheep and you lead them. Thank you for caring for me when the road is unclear. Help me follow you closely through every uncertain turn this week, and make me gentle with the people who walk beside me. Keep me near you when fear tries to pull me away. Amen.

Day 11 (Wednesday, November 11): John 11, Lazarus Raised

Jesus, you wept with Mary and Martha before you raised Lazarus from the dead. Thank you that you grieve with those who grieve. Hold the people I love who are hurting right now. Give me hope that is rooted in your power over death. Be near to them and to me. Amen.

Day 12 (Thursday, November 12): John 12, The Grain of Wheat

God, Mary anointed Jesus, and then he entered Jerusalem. He taught that a grain of wheat must fall and die. Help me let go of what I grip too tightly, and shape my heart so you can grow something new in me. Teach me to trust you with my losses. Amen.

Day 13 (Friday, November 13): John 13, Washing the Disciples' Feet

Lord, you washed your disciples' feet and gave them a new commandment to love one another. Thank you for a love that kneels to serve. Make me willing to kneel and serve the people around me. Help me love them the way you loved us. Let my hands be ready for small acts of service today. Amen.

Day 14 (Saturday, November 14): John 14, The Way, the Truth and the Life

Jesus, you said you are the way, the truth, and the life. Thank you for promising the Holy Spirit and for giving your peace. When my plans fall apart, guide me to you. Let your peace guard my heart today. Help me rest in your promise as I read. Amen.

Day 15 (Sunday, November 15): John 15, The True Vine

Father, Jesus said he is the true vine, and I want to remain in him. Help me stay connected to Christ in the small decisions of this day. Teach me to love one another the way he loves us. Let that love show in how I treat the people I live with. Amen.

Day 16 (Monday, November 16): John 16, The Spirit of Truth

God, Jesus promised the Spirit of truth, and he said sorrow would turn into joy. Thank you that he has overcome the world. When fear comes, remind me of that promise. Lead me into truth through your Spirit. Let my heart hold on to joy even when the week is hard. Amen.

Day 17 (Tuesday, November 17): John 17, Jesus Prays for Us

Jesus, you prayed for yourself, your disciples, and all who would believe through them. Thank you that you pray for me as well. Help my life show that I belong to you. Help me love the believers beside me. Let my faith reach others who will believe through my life. Amen.

Day 18 (Wednesday, November 18): John 18, The Arrest and the Denial

Lord, Jesus was arrested in a garden, and Peter denied knowing him. I know how quickly I can fall when pressure comes. Give me courage to stand with you when it costs something, and forgive my failures and keep me close to you. Help me stay faithful in quiet moments as well as loud ones. Amen.

Day 19 (Thursday, November 19): John 19, The Cross

Father, your Son was crucified and buried, and I cannot read that without humility. Thank you for the cross. Let me never treat that sacrifice lightly. Draw my heart to him each day. Help me remember your death and burial as I read. Amen.

Day 20 (Friday, November 20): John 20, The Empty Tomb

Living Lord, the tomb was empty when Mary Magdalene arrived. You appeared to your disciples and showed yourself to Thomas. I want what John wrote to take root in me, that I may believe and have life in your name. Strengthen my faith this week. Amen.

Day 21 (Saturday, November 21): John 21, Feed My Sheep

Jesus, you appeared by the Sea of Galilee and restored Peter. You asked him to feed your sheep. Thank you that failure is not the end of the story with you. Give me a willing heart to serve those you have placed in my path. Help me feed the people in my life with patient care. Amen.

Day 22 (Sunday, November 22): Psalm 23, the Lord Is My Shepherd

My Lord, you are my shepherd today. Help me trust your guidance as I walk through each hour. Give me rest in your care, and let me follow where you lead. When the path is hard, remind me that you are beside me. Let my heart be calm because you are near. Amen.

Day 23 (Monday, November 23): Psalm 27, the Lord Is My Light

God, you are my light and my salvation. When I wait for you, help me wait without losing heart. Teach me to trust your timing and your steady presence, and keep me from fear when the night feels long. Let my waiting be quiet and full of hope. Amen.

Day 24 (Tuesday, November 24): Psalm 46, a Refuge and Strength

Father, you are my refuge and strength. Teach me to be still before you, and let fear lose its grip on me. Remind me that you are near in every trouble. I give you the worries of this day. Amen.

Day 25 (Wednesday, November 25): Psalm 51, a Clean Heart

God, have mercy on me. I have done wrong, and I need your forgiveness. Give me a clean heart and a steady spirit. Restore the joy of knowing you, and teach me to walk in your ways again. Hear me, because I am truly sorry. Amen.

Day 26 (Thursday, November 26): Psalm 91, the Shelter of the Most High

Lord, let me dwell in the shelter of the Most High. When danger comes near, I want to rest under your protection. Be my safe place today and every day, and keep my fears from taking over my thoughts. Thank you for a place I can always return to. Amen.

Day 27 (Friday, November 27): Psalm 103, Bless the Lord

God, I bless you for your forgiveness and your compassion. Let my whole life join in thanking you, and help me remember the good you have done for me. Teach me to forgive others as you have forgiven me. Give me words of praise for the morning and the night. Amen.

Day 28 (Saturday, November 28): Psalm 121, Help from the Lord

Father, my help comes from you, the one who watches over my coming and going. Some days I feel as if I am on my own. Remind me that you see every step I take. Guard every road I travel this week. Thank you that your watch never ends. Amen.

Day 29 (Sunday, November 29): Psalm 139, Known by God

Lord, you know me and you search me. You are with me everywhere I go. Help me rest in being fully known by you. Thank you that I am never out of your reach. Teach me to live today as someone you know and love. Let that truth steady me today. Amen.

Day 30 (Monday, November 30): Psalm 150, Praise

Father, I finish this month with a song of praise. Thank you for the thirty days of reading and for every chapter you let me hear. Let my whole life sing your praise. Keep my voice ready to praise you tomorrow too. Help me keep reading after November ends. Amen.

Frequently asked questions

What is the global Bible month?

Global Bible Month is a campaign that runs from November 1 to 30, 2026. The campaign is a 30-Day Bible Challenge with the tagline 'One Word for the World,' and it invites people to read Scripture every day for 30 consecutive days. Participants can read from a personal Bible or use a Bible app. Churches can run a message series and encourage their members to take part. The campaign's own website names no official reading plan, so the reading order in this plan is our own choice. People sign up on the campaign's own website.

Which month is the Bible month?

The Global Bible Month campaign uses November. It runs from November 1 to 30, 2026, and this plan covers each of those 30 days, starting on Sunday, November 1 and ending on Monday, November 30. Day N of the plan falls on November N, so Day 21 is Saturday, November 21. The plan does not cover any other Bible month or its theme. Participants can read from a personal Bible or use a Bible app.

Can you read the whole Bible in 30 days?

Only at about 40 chapters a day, and this plan covers 30 chapters in all. In our internal chapter count, we added up the chapters of all 66 books of the Protestant Bible (929 in the Old Testament and 260 in the New Testament, 1,189 in all). Dividing by 30 days gives about 39.6 chapters a day. The figure measures chapters, and chapters vary widely in length. Psalm 117 has two verses, and Psalm 119 has 176. A reader who wants the whole Bible in 30 days would need a different project. A reader who wants only an overview should choose a plan built for that goal.

Why start with the Gospel of John?

The plan starts with the Gospel of John because the book has 21 chapters, which fits the 21 days from November 1 to 21, and because John 20:31 states why it was written. That verse says the book was written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. Starting here is our editorial choice, and no outside source set this order. The last nine days move from the Gospel's story of Jesus to the Psalms, which include a prayer for mercy and a closing song of praise.

What if I miss a day?

Read the next day's chapter and add the missed one when you can. There is no penalty for missing a day. Reading aloud or listening is fine, and any translation you can understand works. A short prayer before and after reading is enough. If you have very little time each day, take fewer verses from each chapter instead of skipping days, so the plan still moves one chapter a day. The prayer for each day can be prayed on its own if you have only a minute. Keep the reading order even when the dates slip.

Where do I start?

Start on Sunday, November 1 with John 1 and the Day 1 prayer. You can also begin on any other day, because the plan works from any date by taking the next reading in order. Each day gives one reading and one prayer, and the order stays fixed: John 1 to 21, then Psalms 23, 27, 46, 51, 91, 103, 121, 139 and 150. Join Global Bible Month with one chapter a day: the Gospel of John from November 1 to 21 and nine psalms from November 22 to 30, which is 30 chapters in all.
